“Objects may be closer than they appear.” This is the constant warning that we are given every time we look in those mirrors to see what we are leaving behind, just as it should be a warning on the back of the new Lee Simpson self-titled album. The heart-spilling lyrics of Simpson and Jason Fletcher remind us that no matter how far down the road you go, it just might not be far enough. As he sings in “This God Damn Place,” “sometimes it’s easier to move along / and bear it all in time.” Whether in the bare-bones harmonizing of “Doing Well” or the toe-tapping melancholy of “Those Old Times,” Lee Simpson gives you the sense that nothing is being held back — vocally, or emotionally. Clean acoustic picking, crisp steel guitar licks as well as some plugged-in, muddy riffs help maintain the down-home feel of this album. – Noel Pearson Synthesis Magazine

John McGaraghan is a very special artist that lays ya flat with the songs. "One of the finest craftsmen I have ever heard" says Lee. Vina Loam Records is proud to support both the "LS" record (release date Jan-1st 2004) and hope to release another record in the new year adding McGaraghan's writings to the growing catalog as well. Also for you die hards, Blue Dye Fire's entire catalog will be available for all the old heads and we are currently negotiating International distribution through Radio Entertainment International which should yield some more European touring. The new www.LeeSimpson.net is up and running now so go and check it out! Vina Loam has more exciting stuff in the near future so check back often!!! Visit www.johnmcg.com for more....

The plans for the future are to focus on the larger cities of the West Coast primarily SF and LA. Also supporting the new record that has the audio finished up and should be available by the end of the year. Eric Garcia and Slipped Disk Media have been setting this new website up with the idea that it is a regularly updated interface with a focus on it being a ways and means to stay in touch with everyone out there and also give you an idea what the most recent stuff is. It will also serve as a history rescource for all the great records made in the past. We are putting in extra hours to make it so the Blue Dye Fire records - some released like "Thank you for being alive" or the much darker "Roadburger", can be available from the Vina Loam records catalog. On the songwriting John McGharaghan and I are planning to see some more songwriting and god willing some more recordings together. He has gone to San Diego to soak up some sun and fun for a few years so we will catch up with him on many a Southern California trip.

I guess I should mention some negotiations for management and a separate deal that includes some International distribution and tour support abroad. All tthat should become more clear in the weeks and months to come. Of all the places we have been it is nice watching all these great groups of friends in all these great places finally start to get sewn together. The focus of course is getting to all of these stops as often as we can with as much music to give as possible. Live nowhere and be everywhere - keeps it healthy. From good straight up Rock and Roll to the traditional, the whole point is the heart of great songwriting. We look forward to higher, faster and farther. Oh yeah and Steve Earl and EmmyLou Harris at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass at Speedway Meadows in Golden Gate Park SF was amazing. I also have to mention a heavy hitter in the scene these days, A.J. Roach - ladies and gents. I have not been so floored by the honesty of this guy's music since I had seen John Prine years ago. Some writer/ performers can shut up even the rowdiest rooms. Any chance you get - go and see him. You will not be sorry. Check back for updates and tour schedules. We are going to try and get this thing slammed full of info, merch and any shit we can think up.
